Rashi Jain has trained in ceramics and visual art at the Valley School, Bangalore and the Golden Bridge Pottery, Pondicherry.
She has exhibited across India in shows such as Porcelain India (India Habitat Center, Delhi), Bridges: Indian Contemporary Ceramics (The Stainless, Delhi), Earth Matters (Indo Korean Center & Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai) and Jar of Secrets (Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, solo show), and has been invited to participate in Paperclay Illuminated, an exhibition touring across museums in the USA from 2019 to 2021.
Rashi has been invited to residencies, such as Inko-Lalit Kala Akademi and KYTA. She is a member of the IAC, Geneva and has been awarded the NCECA Multi-cultural fellowship and the Alps Art Academy/Land Art scholarship, Switzerland. She has co-founded the Studio Potters' Market, and co -curates annually, at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Mumbai.
Rashi teaches ceramics in educational institutions and from her studio – Studio Karva – in Mumbai since 2004.
My work bridges intuitive thoughts arising within, from deep silence, expresses it in symbols, through the experience of the relationship between inner and outer worlds, which flows into figurative, sculptural ceramic forms. The journey is finding integration, through inspirations from anatomical studies, Buddhist and Jain temple iconology, patterns in nature, engagements with traditional crafts and impressions from spiritual practices.
